For someone only 23 years old, Jess McAvoy has a lot of gigs under her belt.
Playing in pubs since she was 16, Jess emerged as the winner of Joy 98, and soon attracted rave reviews for her emotive and energetic performances and melodic hook-laden indie/pop tunes.

Multiple WAMI Nominations followed and her song “Girl” was one of the standout tracks on the 99 Kiss My WAMI cd compilation.
That same year Jess released her debut 7 track mini-album “Release” to wide acclaim and high rotation on local independent radio.

Since relocating to Melbourne in ‘99, Jess has played a heap of well received gigs, toured with
Ani di Franco & The Waifs and released two further eps - 2001’s “Four Short Stories” which garnered Triple J and Rage airplay, and her limited numbered edition cd “Light Wait” in late 2002.

In 2003, Jess has begun work on her first full length release dubbed “Working Title”, an ambitious project which will bring together more than 20 musicians around the country - from pop, rock, folk, jazz and classical backgrounds - to work on the 12 tracks.
The songs will be recorded in Perth, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney in conjunction with the “Working Title” Tour.
