Search newherenowlive.com for Anna Bartsch and the Dilemmas Biography After a period of hibernation, Melbourne musician Anna Bartsch is waking up to herself and re-entering the big exciting world of the Melbourne music scene. Having served her time in several bands over her relatively few years, Anna is now venturing out as a not-quite-solo artist with support from backing musos The Dilemmas.
The songs are rock with touches of blues, country, pop and a spectrum of mixed influences sending each track into its own little world. The melodies are strong, the riffs are addictive and the lyrics prove Anna has the perfect words for every occasion (like a hallmark card, but less nausea inducing).
The Dilemmas add rhythm, drive and flourishes of genius to complete the project. They are David Kleynjans on drums, Adrian Whitehead on keys and Luke Farbotko on bass. All have extensive musical CVS, but are not inclined to boast and so remain mysterious, if not for google.
The background…
After recording her first six track demo at age 14, Anna spent six years as songwriter, vocalist and rhythm guitarist with rootsy rock band The Drowners. Within this group Anna co-wrote and recorded a full length album (“Far From Home”, released by Croxton Records in 2002) which received national airplay and earned the band gigs around Australia alongside many notable local and international artists.
More recently Anna has performed as lead guitarist and backing vocalist for award winning Melbourne artist Tim Reid, as well as contributing her skills as a session musician for several local artists and producers.
Anna’s music is melodic, diverse and memorable with finely crafted lyrics and skilled guitar work. The sound blends influences like Sheryl Crow and Etta James, the Rolling Stones and Matt Walker, Big Star and Bob Dylan. Her voice is strong and warm and, most impressively, she lugs her own fender amp. |
