Biography
'Warm me like the sun, and melt down all our love…'

Our love, for the perfect pop song, is fully thawed with the new release from Melbourne's Groundswell.

For those unfamiliar, Grounswell’s Michael Snowball (Guitar and Vocals), Ivan Jakic (Bass, Keys and Vocals), and David Kleynjans (Drums and Percussion), have been inducing shivers in the spines of Melbournians for over 7 years now, releasing sporadic bursts of pure pop joy in 3 track slices to a privileged few, always honing their craft, and always keeping the smile on their face, and yours…

They're no stranger to the live circuit, touring with acts such as Motor Ace, The Whitlams, Ice Cream Hands and Eskimo Joe, nor shy of working with other great engineers such as Wayne Connolly or Chris Thompson on past releases.

So now we have the real deal, the Debut Long Player, entitled 'Cosmopolitan', a title reflecting the surrounds in which these tunes grew. Featuring the best eleven songs of their career, not one, but two spirited songwriters, each with his own style and approach, but both seaming together to create an awe-inspiring sound, tailor made pop perfection…

Produced by the band, and recorded and mixed by Cavalier's Justin Skim and Simon Banko, this record is truly a labour of love, a real testament to a band that never gave up trying to write the perfect pop song, and with this debut effort they've succeeded, and there's more than one gem to choose from.

Take the bouncy and melodic 'Stand Up' or 'Always', or try on the heartfelt and radiant 'Lonely Lane' or 'Take Away'… the sound could be described somewhere between Teenage Fanclub and Elliott Smith, but then once its gone through your head a couple of times, comparisons to other bands seem superfluous.
