Search newherenowlive.com for Matthew Walters Biography "...Gorgeous ballads of hopeful sadness and sadful hopeness rolled forth hauntingly from the depths of Matt's throat. His vocals and guitar-playing were complemented amazingly richly by the violin/mandolin, and subtle melodies melted in and out of the music with breathtaking grace. In the wise words of the sound guy: "This is the best unsigned talent I've seen." - Thomas Baker, Indie Initiative.

"These songs are beautifully written and romantic, heartfelt and blindingly vulnerable. It takes guts to be this plaintive..." - Faster Louder, www.fasterlouder.com.au

“He’s only 20 years old, but this Melbourne singer-songwriter sounds far more experienced…songs such as ‘Good morning night’ roll from whispers to punchy pop-rock moments… ‘Simple’ builds from a stark intro to an anthemic ending full of skyscraper guitars and a lighters-in-the-air stomp.” – Matt Neal, the Warnambool Standard, April 2006.
Matt Walters was raised at music festivals in which he attended with his music loving parents so its no coincidence that his passion in life comes from writing and performing his own original songs.
At just 20 years of age, Matt Walters is set to take the music industry by storm with his rocking acoustic tunes about life and love. For the past 3 years Matt has cut his teeth at about every club you can imagine around Victoria and is now set to release his second album in Australia.
Matt has been kicking songs and lyrics around for his new album since his first album debuted to national airplay in 2004. He has had time to fine tune his songs and polish his sound. His new album, titled “The moon, stars and people” was recorded at Melbourne’s famous Woodstock studios, with production from Troy Trigwell and Robin Mai, perhaps best known for their work on the John Butler Trio’s platinum selling album “Sunrise over sea”.
You only have to hear the blistering pop-rock of songs like "She came by Water" or the gorgeous alt-country-rock feel of "Moon, stars and people" to know that Matt Walters is a singer-songwriter to keep your eye on. His musical heroes include Beck, Wilco, and Colin Hay but he listens to everything from classical to blues.
His second release, the album, "The Moon, stars and People" will be available through Goanna Arts/MGM in Australia July 2006. Goanna Arts is the new indie label owned and operated by legendary singer/songwriter Shane Howard.
Matt’s first single “She came by water” has already received national airplay on Triple J and is currently being added on stations around the country.
Having already appeared at the Apollo Bay and Queenscliff music festivals (winner, “foot in the door” contest 2005), Matt has secured himself as a must see live act.
Matt launches his new album “The moon, stars and people” on Thursday July 6th at Manchester Lane in Melbourne and is touring throughout July.
New Album available July 2006.
